Passport Cuisine® Shumai Quiz
1. What is Japanese Shumai?
Shumai is a dumpling that has it is origin in China. In its basic state, a wonton wrapper made from flour and water is filled with finely ground pork, onion and ginger. The shumai dumpling is folded into a purse shape, allowing the filling to peak through the top. It is steamed or pan fried until cooked through.
2. Name the flavors available in the Passport Cuisine® Shumai and describe the ingredients in each of them
Pork - is made with fresh pork and vegetables, including onions and water chestnuts, to ensure superior flavor and texture with NO MSG added. (shrimp is also included) The 80/20 lean pork to fat ratio means more meat and less fat.
Wasabi Pork - is made identically to the Pork Shumai (but it also includes shrimp) with a couple of important exceptions. The Wasabi Shumai is green thanks to the addition of all natural spinach powder. But it is the addition of the all-natural wasabi powder that provides the extra punch that separates the flavor profile of this shumai from the rest. And as it is with all our shumai products, NO MSG is added.
Shrimp - is made with wild shrimp meat for unparalleled shrimp flavor. Add to that, Pollock or cod white fish, onion, ginger and soy sauce and you end up with a luscious creamy shrimp filling. And of course, NO MSG is added.
